Festival of British Archaeology Open Day—July 18th

A day of tours, demonstrations and hands-on workshops—culminating in a lecture on medieval wall paintings by highly acclaimed author, Roger Rosewell.
Come along an discover the amazing world of the medieval artist. Watch demonstrations of medieval artists at work and try your hand at making your own medieval paints, pigments and brushes. Take a free tour of fantastic medieval wall paintings of Lakenheath and discover one of Suffolk’s best kept secrets. The open day is being held as part of the Lakenheath village fete so there will be plenty of refreshments and other activities to hand.
The highlight of the afternoon will be a free lecture by Roger Rosewell—acclaimed author of Medieval Wall Paintings in English and Welsh Churches.

Lakenheath church is home to one of the finest collections of medieval wall painting schemes in East Anglia. Come along and discover the amazing story of their uncovering, recent conservation and the ancient conflict that led to their creation.
